More Than Decoration—Art That Anchors Your Home

Commissioning custom art isn't just about filling wall space—it's about creating emotional resonance in the place where you live.

Just as the Dordogne Valley landscapes I paint carry memory and meaning, your commissioned piece becomes a quiet anchor. A reminder of what matters. A return to self, rooted in color, texture, and form.

Whether you're drawn to serene abstracts that invite contemplation, textured landscapes that evoke specific places, or bold modern pieces that capture emotional complexity, I work closely with you to translate your vision into a painting that feels like it's always belonged in your home.

— Tamah R. | Living Room Commission | Lexington, MA

★★★★★ "I was immediately drawn to Cécile Ganne's work entitled 'Cascade' at a show in Belmont, Mass. I particularly liked Cécile's combining color and texture that gives the work a play of light and motion, reflective of its title. I asked her to create a larger piece in the same vibe to create a centerpiece for my staircase. I am honored to now enjoy the painting everyday."

— Suzanne B. | Staircase Commission | Massachusetts

★★★★★ "Working with Cécile was a joy from start to finish. I have always been drawn to her inviting landscapes that are rich with detail, balanced with color and composition, elegant, and whimsical and was excited to have one of her paintings to set the mood in the sun-filled kitchen of our new seaside home on Cape Cod. I am very happy with the rich, vibrant, playful, enticing painting Cécile created and am thrilled to have it as a part of our new home. I highly recommend working with Cécile to create the painting you've always wanted!"

Frequently Asked Questions About Commissioning Art

How much does a commissioned painting cost?

Commission pricing depends on size, complexity, and timeline. Small works (12x12" to 18x24") start at one investment level, while large statement pieces (40x40" to 60x60") are priced accordingly. Contact me for a personalized quote based on your specific vision and space requirements. I'm transparent about pricing from our first conversation.

How long does a commission take?

Most commissions take 4-6 weeks from consultation to completion. This includes design time, the layering and drying time required for the oil and cold wax medium (which creates the rich texture my work is known for), and final touches. Rush orders may be available for an additional fee—please inquire if you have a specific deadline.

Can I commission a painting similar to one in your gallery?

Absolutely! Many clients are drawn to a specific piece in my gallery and want something in that same style, color palette, or mood but sized perfectly for their space. I create a new, original work inspired by the aesthetic you love, ensuring it's tailored to your specific needs while maintaining the qualities that attracted you to the original piece.

Do you work with interior designers and architects?

Yes! I regularly collaborate with design professionals on residential and commercial projects. I understand the importance of timeline coordination, client presentations, and cohesive design vision. Trade discounts available for design professionals. References from past design collaborations available upon request.

What if I'm not in Boston—can you still create a commission? Yes! I work with clients nationwide and internationally. We conduct consultations via video call, and I carefully package and ship finished works with full insurance. I've successfully completed commissions for clients from California to New York, France, and the UK, ensuring the same collaborative, personalized experience regardless of location.

What style of art do you create for commissions? I specialize in contemplative abstract paintings and semi-abstract landscapes in oil and cold wax. My work ranges from serene, meditative pieces with soft color transitions to more dynamic modern abstracts with bold gestural marks. View my gallery to see the full range of styles available for commission.

What is oil and cold wax medium? Oil and cold wax is a unique painting technique that combines oil paint with cold wax medium, creating luminous, textured surfaces with incredible depth. The wax adds body to the paint, allowing for rich impasto effects and subtle translucency. The surface has a beautiful matte finish that doesn't require glass, and the texture creates fascinating interactions with natural light throughout the day.

Do you offer payment plans? Yes, payment plans are available for larger commissions. The typical structure is 50% deposit to begin work (which covers materials and reserves your spot in my schedule) and 50% upon completion before delivery. For substantial commissions, we can discuss custom payment schedules that work for your budget.

What happens if I don't like the final piece? Client satisfaction is paramount. In my 15+ years of creating commissioned work, I've never had a client unhappy with the final result because we work closely together from concept to completion. However, if concerns arise, I extend a full refund or create another commission.

Can you match colors from my existing décor? Yes! Bring fabric swatches, paint samples, photos of your furniture, or any other color references to our consultation. I can work with your existing palette or help you select colors that will complement your space beautifully. Understanding your existing décor is an essential part of creating a commissioned piece that feels perfectly integrated into your home.

Do you create commissions for corporate or commercial spaces? Yes, I work with businesses, medical facilities, hotels, restaurants, and other commercial spaces. Corporate commissions often require larger scale works, specific color palettes that align with brand identity, and coordinated delivery and installation timelines. I'm experienced in these requirements and happy to discuss your commercial art needs.
